It is a record book: it gives you the columns and the space, and you supply everything that goes in them.

What is in the set

1. Project Brief - the space, what you want at the end, and the dates you set yourself: room or area, size in your own words, what is staying as it is, how you describe the result, what you have decided you want and decided against, how you will know it is finished, when you want quotes back, and when you would like work to start and end. Ends with ruled lines for the questions you want to ask before accepting any quote.
2. Quote Comparison - three quotes side by side, recorded in the words each quote uses: your own label for it, the date on it, the total stated, whether tax is shown, the amount asked for up front, blank rows for what it lists as included and not included, and the start, length and validity it states. Ends with ruled lines for a question you asked and the answer you were given.
3. Materials and Selections - a blank list of what you chose: item or area, product, model or finish, quantity, and where it came from, with ruled lines for samples, colours or references and where you are keeping them.
4. Task and Decision Log - each task you handed to someone and who you asked, with the date agreed, the date done and a notes column, then a second block for the decisions you made.
5. Spending and Receipts - one line per payment: date, what it was for, the quoted amount, the amount paid, a reference you will recognise, and where the receipt is kept, followed by a blank totals block you add up yourself.
6. Open Items and Closeout Notes - what is still open and who you raised it with, with the dates raised and settled, a block for what you still want to ask, and ruled lines for closeout notes in your own words.

What you get

• Two PDF files: one sized for US Letter, one sized for A4.
• Supplied as a ZIP file containing the US Letter PDF, the A4 PDF and a READ-ME text file. Extract the ZIP before opening the PDFs.
• Six pages in each file. Same pages, same wording, same order.
• Print at home or at a print shop, as many copies of any page as you need.
• Black and dark-navy printing on white; no full-page color blocks.

How it is meant to be used

Print the pages you want, put them in a folder or binder, and write on them with a pen. The sheets are designed to be filled in by hand. They are not fillable on screen and contain no form fields, buttons or links.

• This is a record-keeping set only. It contains no construction, electrical, plumbing, structural, safety, legal, tax, insurance or contract advice, no recommended costs or price ranges, no suggested tradespeople or suppliers, and no method or order of works.
• The Quote Comparison page records what each quote says. It does not score, rank or rate a quote and it does not tell you which to accept.
• The totals block on the spending page is blank because you add it up. Nothing on these pages calculates or checks anything.
• The pages deliberately do not ask for a street address, an account number or a card number. A short label such as Quote 1 is enough to identify a quote.
• Digital download. Nothing is posted to you and no physical product is included.
• Designed for hand completion after printing.
